In earthly terms, an offspring [off and spring] is:

  1. A child or children; a descendant or descendants, however remote from the stock. Acts 17. Rev 22.
  2. Propagation; generation.
  3. Production of any kind.

An offspring or offshoot must of necessity carry the image and likeness of its progenitor (Gen 1:11,12, 21, 24, 25). A cow can only give cow DNA to its offspring. It cannot give a sparrows DNA to its young. Reproduction is according to kind. God set this law in motion when He created heaven and earth.

And God said, Let the earth put forth [tender] vegetation: plants yielding seed and fruit trees yielding fruit whose seed is in itself, each according to its kind, upon the earth. And it was so. (Gen 1:11 AMP)

And God made the [wild] beasts of the earth according to their kinds, and domestic animals according to their kinds, and everything that creeps upon the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good (fitting, pleasant) and He approved it. (Gen 1:25 AMP)

Everything by divine arrangement can only reproduce after its kind. This is not only limited to the physical creation. It extends in to the spiritual realm as we'll soon find out from scripture. When coming to deceive Eve in the garden of Eden, the enemy came used a serpent or dragon:

NOW THE serpent was more subtle and crafty than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And he [Satan] said to the woman, Can it really be that God has said, You shall not eat from every tree of the garden? [Rev. 12:9-11.(Gen 3:1 AMP)

And the huge dragon was cast down and out--that age-old serpent, who is called the Devil and Satan, he who is the seducer (deceiver) of all humanity the world over; he was forced out and down to the earth, and his angels were flung out along with him. [Gen. 3:1, 14, 15; Zech. 3:1.(Rev 12:9 AMP)

When we cross reference Gen 3:1 with Rev 12:9, we see the enemy described as the old serpent or snake by Apostle John. His other names which describe various attributes of his are devil or satan. His offspring are likewise described as serpents by Jesus christ.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it(Joh 8:44 KJV)

In three places in this verse, Jesus calls the devil a father—meaning he has offspring. He reproduces after his kind—in this case, his children have his attribues of murder and lying.

Mat 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers [serpents], who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

The Contemporary English version (CEV) and Good News Bible (GNB) reads 'you bunch of snakes' and 'you snakes' respectively. John the Baptist called the men he adressed snakes or vipers depending on which translation you look at. He repeated this in other places in the gospel such as Matt 3:7; Matt 12:34; Matt 23:33 and Luke 3:7. Why did the Lord call them snakes? Because they are offspring of the old snake otherwise known as the devil or satan. They are his spiritual offspirng. Their father can only give birth after his kind.

This is why to take away the sins of fallen humanity who had become children of darkness or children of the old snake, Jesus had to become ‘a brazen serpent’ and hung on a pole or nailed to the cross.

And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert [on a pole], so must [so it is necessary that] the Son of Man be lifted up [on the cross], [Num. 21:9.(Joh 3:14 AMP)

Jesus took fallen man’s nature (he became sin) and gave fallen man His nature (righteousness) which was divine i.e. the nature of God.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2Co 5:21 KJV)

If fallen man were children of satan because they took in the seed (word) of the serpent through Eve, then born-again children of God are the result of the seed of God (His Word).

1Pe 1:23 AMP You have been regenerated (born again), not from a mortal origin (seed, sperm), but from one that is immortal by the ever living and lasting Word of God.

When a person gets born again, what transpires is, his old nature is buried with Christ in death. That nature of the serpent or darkness is nailed to the cross and in exchange, God makes us new creatures who have the sinless nature of Jesus—righteousness and eternal life. His name is Jesus but His nature is God. And those who are born-again are participators in the divine nature. Christians are not God. They are His offspring and carry His nature.

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. (2Pe 1:4 KJV)

What is the divine nature? Simply put, it is God’s essence—His righteouenss.

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. (2Co 5:21 KJV)

Notice Jesus did not just carry our sins. He became our sin—that of entire humanity from Adam to the last person. He became it and nailed it to the cross. This is the story of redemption.

Jesus said, He and His Father are one. What then happens to a person who like Jesus gets begotten of God? He too becomes one with the God.

But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit(1Co 6:17 KJV)

God is Holy Spirit and he that is joined to Him through birth is one Spirit with Him.

1Jn 3:1 KJV Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

1Jn 3:2 KJV Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

We are partakers of the Truth—living epistles to our generation from God. We are born again by Him sowing his seed into us. That seed is his Word which according to john 6:63 is spirit. This seed is the source of our new life. The person who is born again is the result of that seed germinating. We are a portion of His Word. Using the analogy of the human body, he is the head, we are the body. Using the analogy of a vine, He is the vine, we are the branches. Neither analogy separates us from Him. We are one.

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. (1Pe 1:23 KJV)

But how is it then that some ‘Christians’ may still perpetrate wicked acts if they are truly one spirit with the Lord? The answer is they are either ignorant or have refused to manifest their true nature—plus unless one is taught or looks in the mirror of the word, they will live igniorant of their true nature. The enemy will take advantage of them (Hosea 4:6). Such will die like mere men even though in essence they are gods—as per King David’s testimony and that of Jesus Christ.

Jhn 10:34-36 (AMPC)

34 Jesus answered, Is it not written in your Law, I said, You are gods? [Psa 82:6]

35 So men are called gods [by the Law], men to whom God's message came--and the Scripture cannot be set aside or cancelled or broken or annulled--

36 [If that is true] do you say of the One Whom the Father consecrated and dedicated and set apart for Himself and sent into the world, You are blaspheming, because I said, I am the Son of God?

Jesus was quoting Psalm 82:6.

Psa 82:1-8 (AMPC)

1 A Psalm of Asaph. GOD STANDS in the assembly [of the representatives] of God; in the midst of the magistrates or judges He gives judgment [asamong the gods.

2 How long will you [magistrates or judges] judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

3 Do justice to the weak (poor) and fatherless; maintain the rights of the afflicted and needy.

4 Deliver the poor and needy; rescue them out of the hand of the wicked.

5 [The magistrates and judges] know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in the darkness [of complacent satisfaction]; all the foundations of the earth [the fundamental principles upon which rests the administration of justice] are shaking.

6 I said, You are gods [since you judge on My behalf, as My representatives]; indeed, all of you are children of the Most High. [Jhn 10:34-36Rom 13:1-2]

7 But you shall die as men and fall as one of the princes.

8 Arise, O God, judge the earth! For to You belong all the nations. [Rev 11:15]

Christians as the offspirng of God are a new specie, or new creatures—that never existed before.

2Co 5:17 (KJV) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

1Pe 2:9 (AMPC) But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God's] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. [Exo 19:5-6]

The phrase a “chosen race” means they are no longer homo sapien but an entire new creation—a new race of beings. As a new species, we are commissioned to carry out Isaiah 61 because that was the commission of Jesus and before he died, he conferred on us the same commission.

Joh 20:21 KJV Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

We are sent out by Him just as he was sent out with the same commission:

  1. to bind up and heal the brokenhearted,
  2. to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound, [Rom. 10:15.]
  3. To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favor] and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, [Matt. 11:2-6; Luke 4:18, 19; 7:22.]
  4. To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion--to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy burdened, and failing spirit--that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
  5. To rebuild the ancient ruins; raise up the former desolations and renew the ruined cities, the devastations of many generations.
  6. This is why he gave us His precious anointing and His Holy spirit according to Isa 61:1-4. This commission can only be accomplished by those who are born of God who know who they are in Him. Those who are born again do not have the light of God. They themselves are Light.

Eph 5:8 AMP For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord; walk as children of Light [lead the lives of those native-born to the Light].

When the Word walked the earth physically he was the light of the world.

Joh 8:12 AMP Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is Life.

But when he left he gave us his commissioning hence we became the light of the world in Him.

Mat 5:14 (AMPC) You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

Because we are lights, that's why God is called the Father of lights. We are light and He is our Father.

Jas 1:17 KJV Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Php 2:15 AMP That you may show yourselves to be blameless and guileless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse], among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the [dark] world,
