Pilate said to Him, What is Truth? On saying this he went out to the Jews again and told them, I find no fault in Him. —Joh 18:38
Pilate stood before the Truth and asked the Truth, “What is Truth”? What irony! What blindness! What ignorance! What lack of knowledge. But it so happens that till today many cannot answer that question all around the world. Even more serious is the fact that many who call themselves children of God do not know the answer to that question. They have head knowledge about the Truth but in their hearts, they still do not know Him who is called Truth. God had the following to say about His people:
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. —Hos 4:6 KJV
Of interest to me is the first portion which explains that God’s people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. The fact that a person is born anew from above does not preclude such a one from destruction/perishing. Only the knowledge of Truth does. What is the lack of knowledge?
It can be described as the absence of the Knowledge of the Truth. In the case of this particular scripture, it was the people who rejected knowledge…and not because knowledge was scarce or unavailable. For most people today, the reason is similar. Knowledge abound but only true seekers go out of their way to search for GOD in spirit and in Truth.
The Dragon i.e. Satan or the devil comes to steal, kill and destroy. He is successful in these schemes and wiles of his only if God’s people are ignorant.
The GOOD NEWS/Gospel is… even if a person has been stolen from, killed or destroyed, God is able to restore. How? What is the antidote to lack of knowledge? The answer is knowledge of the Truth.
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. —Joh 8:32
Truth is the food that faith feeds on and without faith it is impossible to please GOD. The Truth is not just a verified or indisputable fact, proposition, principle, or the like. Oh NO! A thousand times NO! Truth is more than that. He is a person, the mightiest person within and without the universe and the believer. He is the force of all forces. He is the light that annihilates all darkness and the darkness comprehends Him not.
Christians are not called to follow a philosophy of life or a moral system of behavior; we are called to follow a Person—Christ. The Way is not a formula but a Person. Truth is not just getting our doctrines accurate, though we want to do that, but the Truth we are to follow is a Person—Jesus is the Truth. He must be our Life if we are to really know Him as the Way and the Truth –Rick Joyner
